About Us
CROSSROADS at Park Place, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is a
joint endeavor of Park Place United Methodist
Church, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and Glenbrook
United Methodist Church. It is administered by a
volunteer board of
directors, representing
a broad range of social service, medical,
ministerial, and non-profit experience.
Currently located at St. Paul's
Episcopal Church, CROSSROADS opened
its doors to homeless persons in October 2001 and
has since then been providing services to promote
their health, hygiene and
dignity.
Along with meeting the
physical needs of our clients, CROSSROADS AT PARK
PLACE affirms that all people should enjoy dignity
and self-worth, recognizing that this must also
include our neighbors who have no physical
address. The homeless population represents
a community of worth—one that is worthy of our
respect and compassion. By providing our services,
CROSSROADS
allows our neighbors to care for themselves, to be
informed and proactive.
Finally, CROSSROADS
provides a setting in which all our neighbors can
experience dignity by sharing in a call to care
for one another. This is realized in the
ways volunteers and clients work together to bring
about change for the whole
community.
Partners Along with
our determination to promote health in the
homeless community, CROSSROADS AT PARKPLACE, INC.
is fortunate to be assisted by voluntary health
care agencies providing medical screening,
lectures, and educational materials. Among
these are the City of Houston Health
Department and the Harris County Mobile Health Van.
Other Partners Students at Area Beauty Schools, Bristol Homeless Center (MHMRA), ProBono Legal Services, Food Stamps and Narcotics Anonymous provide services to our clients at CROSSROADS on a weekly basis.
